Comment: The Newsweek article cited above contains a remarkably high number of internal links which lead to scholarly and/or reputable sources, all of which might be worth examining.
I think it's particularly important to factor in to this discussion a recognition of and even deference to those who, after having gone through surgical or medical transitions while young, decided to "de-transition" later as adults. Keira Bell's story (above) is one such example, but she is not the only one, as the article (below) points out.
These people do not deserve the scorn or derision leveled at them by the trans-advocates. Rather, they deserve a place at the table, literally and metaphorically. Their voices, their experiences, their regrets, maybe their anger, maybe, someday, some retroactive recompense for having been, whether for good intentions or pure ignorance, someone else's guinea pig and social symbol
